As much as I didn't want it to come...it came. Back to School. Such a bummer after the great summer we had. Oh well, life moves on. While I am sad to lose my Carsey-boy each day (sure do miss that boy when he's gone), I actually handled it all quite well this year. Kindergarten was rough, just cause its your first taste of letting your baby go out into the world. And then first grade was even harder for me because it became full time. This year though. I was ready. I had done this before. Me and him were both calm and just fine with it. It was a relief to send him off for the day and not feel anxious and worried the entire time. He had so many familiar faces in his class, we are absolutely in love with his teacher this year. So we did good. Yay for us!
He started a week before Linc's preschool did. Last year our school district waited til after Labor Day to start. This year they went back to the original time of the week before Labor Day. Not sure which I prefer. Whatever I guess.
And then a little over a week later, Lincoln boy started his second year of preschool at Inch by Inch. New teacher this year. Miss Missie. She's darling.
I try really hard to make good breakfasts for my boys during the school year. Don't get me wrong we definitely do cereal and instant oatmeal on some days, but I at least try to do 2-3 homemade breakfasts for them Mon-Fri. My mom always did for me, and for some reason that always stuck with me.
Back to Carson's first day...a few obligatory front porch pictures. Didn't he look stinkin cute. Cutest 2nd grader I ever did meet...
I keep wondering if he is going to want to stop taking a lunch from home. At first I thought he did it cause he was maybe nervous about school lunch and how it all works. But a year later, he still says he likes home lunch better. And I don't mind one bit, I actually love preparing his little lunch every day.
After school, I always let them pick where they want their afterschool snack from. Krispy Kreme's it was.
Not sure if they like the doughnuts better, or just the fact that they get these stupid baker hats and can stand and watch the doughnuts being made. They seriously stood over there for like a half hour watching that. Weirdo's.
My baby bug.
Couple nights later was Linc's back to school night. Meeting Miss Missie. I just love his little preschool. A bit out of the way, but completely worth it. Such cute little ones that go there, darling little school, so creative and fun. And the best teachers. Lincoln is so happy there.
And then his big day the following Wednseday after Labor Day. Really was an easy year this year. Linc had been there, done that the year before, Carson was all ready and set. Absolutely no tears or fears this time around. Next year will be a whole different story, when my Lincoln boy starts Kindergarten. Ugh! Can't even think about it.
Love this little love of mine. Get the most craziest urges for him. He is a true nut and makes me crazy but is so dang sweet and lovable when he wants to be.
Quick pic with big brother before they both headed their seperate ways.
And then we were off to flip kids. Ash took the preschoolers and I took the big kids to the Elementary school. Just love this picture of my little buddies. They have the sweetest relationship. Fight like cats and dogs, but they sure do love each other. They are truly the best of friends, you ask each of them who their best friend is and they always name each other. Every Monday and Wednesday after we pick them up from school, they beg to stay together and play. And they do play all day. With an occassional fight, usually caused by my boy. But for the most part they are the sweetest. So blessed to have one another. We love our Elle Belle.
And then it was just me and this little guy. With his sprained leg. We thought it was a break. Luckily it wasn't. Had to keep it wrapped in a splint for 3 days though. He handled it like a champ. One word. Trampoline.
