To start out, me and this boy went on a special date...
we met up with these little monkeys and their moms to go and see "Smurfs". I don't know if it was the popcorn and coke, or the nice, cool theater or the actual movie itself, but I sure did have a good time. It was so nice to be with just Carson. The past few movies we have gone to I have spent either out in the hall with Lincoln or half undressed in the theater trying to feed a squirmy baby. How lovely to just sit there next to my boy and enjoy a cute little show. (Which I loved by the way, cute, cute story...oh how I used to love those little blue Smurfs).
After the movie, we brought Cars's little BFF home with us.
Can I just say, I LOVE watching these two together.
A little history:
Think back 7 years ago. Jen had been trying to get pregnant for 9 months. Which now when you think about it, it really isn't that long. However, to a naive little 21 year old it sure can feel that way. She had been trying to no avail. I myself wasn't quite ready, but I knew within the year I would be. I saw how long it was taking her so I thought well I guess I will go off birth control and just see what happens. 2 months later and I was pregnant. (Go figure right, so not the case with Lincoln....3 1/2 years and 2 miscarriages later...life).
Anyways, I was obviously very surprised but very happy. Except for one small thing. Jen. How was I going to tell her, this was supposed to be her moment. Her baby, she was the one who had been wanting it for so long. I told her, and it was bittersweet. She is my sister so she was obviously sweet and kind and courteous but I knew her heart was breaking. A couple of days later, I kept getting this crazy thought. What if this was her month too. What if she was pregnant also. I kept telling her this, and she kept blowing me off. Finally, I was convinced. She was late, like a week late. However, this had happened to her once before and then she had started and her heart was broken. So she was guarded, and kept saying no....I'm not pregnant. It was a Sunday night. I was still convinced that she was. I ran to the old Albertsons by my moms old house and bought 3 items. A pregnancy test and two consulation prizes. A baby toy if she was and a pepsi if she wasn't (we don't drink caffeine while pregnant).
Got back to my moms house and demanded that she take the test. She rolled her eyes and said fine, that way you will leave me alone. In she goes to take the test. Me, my mom and Ash sitting outside the door waiting for her. She gets done and practically throws the test at me, the results still hadn't appeared. She starts to wash her hands, laughing, telling me how weird I am and to go get her pepsi. I glance down at the test and start screaming and jumping up and down. My mom and Ash look at the test and join me. Positive. Jen stands there and starts to cry....it was positive.
And so we began our little journey of motherhood together. Our due dates were one week apart. 4 months later and we find out our little bundle of joys are going to be boys. We knew they were going to be the best of friends. Just like their mama's.
They have not disappointed us. Two truer friends you will never meet. They have been kindred spirits from day one. As different as night and day, but they just click. They understand each other, they idolize each other, they look up to each other. One is just as weird and quirky as the other. They love each other, and I know they always will.
Oh, how I love these 2 little boys.
It was a busy weekend, with 4 little boys in my house instead of the usual 3. However it was such fun.
Sunday morning these two headed off bright and early to a farewell for one of the kids Thiago coached. I needed to be at our ward and knew I couldn't handle 4 kids at church by myself so Thiago took Lincoln.
These three slept in and then ate some breakfast. They chose poptarts and bananas.
They watched a little pirates...
then played a little pirates...
then it was off to our church.
Oh and I pretty much love that picture.
After church we headed up to Tremonton to have dinner at my grandparents.
We ate,
We played,
and my sweet grandpa loaded me up with fresh veggies from his garden (which we had for dinner tonight, grilled chicken, new potatoes, carrots, cukes in vinegar and a sliced green pepper, oh my heavens...it was divine).
On the way home, the boys made big plans for a movie night. Transformers, what else. Carson is on a roll lately. I sat in the front seat listening to them make their little plans, couldn't help but smile.
We got home and I had a few things to do outside. They ran ahead of me into the house and when I got in this is what I saw:
their "treats". Carson told me that we need to go to the grocery store (which was true), he said we didn't have very good treats and this is the best they could find. Juice, cereal, popcorn, goldfish and teddy grahams for him, Lance and Lincoln. Me and Thiago couldn't quit laughing at their little display.
Thiago popped their popcorn while I bathed the babies and when I walked into the room this is what I saw. Him, dancing around the room with the popcorn held above his head, yelling "its mine, its all mine". While Cars and Lance screamed and laughed. This guy is THE biggest goof.
They made it through about half of the movie, and then I found them like this. Little sweeties.
The next day we met up with my cousin and her kids in Brigham city for a little swimming. Where I took just a few pictures cause it was just me and the three kids and ya know, I was trying to keep them alive and all. Swimming is hard work with three little ones, especially a baby.
My sisters and their kids were there as well, so Lancey-boy had to head on home with his mom after that.
It was a great weekend. We absolutely love our little houseguest to pieces. Can't wake til next time little fella!

Such a sweet post! I knew you girls were pregnant at the same time but it was fun reading how you found out. It brought tears to my eyes. So glad you both had kids so close in age, I bet they will be close all their lives. Looks like you all had fun having Lance sleepover, so much fun!
i loved that story about you and your sister! what a precious time in your lives.
i have a cousin 6 months younger then me and we were attached at the hip when we were younger. even now that we're older and busy, we continue to stay close. so this post hit home for me. how do you always make me cry teri?! it wasn't even a "crying post" but you got me. you little...
Oh man thanks for the trip down memory lane, it made me cry just remembering that moment. I honestly didn't think I was or I probably would have waited for Eric to be there too! That was a happy moment, but boy we were just babies then ourselves. It seems so crazy!
I love how you described their friendship, cause it's just so true. I can't imagine two greater friends than those too, it's like the boy versions of me and you in our little offspring.
Thanks for loving him so much, I love that he is with his second mother when he is there with you. I know he is getting the same kiss good night that he would be getting with me.
Love you all lots, thanks for making me smile.
So sweet those two boys are, they are so lucky to have you two as Moms :)
I never realized.... your story sounds just like mine and Staceys. Kaylee and Mitch are 10 days apart. I wish they could see each other.... I am glad your kids are enjoying their "cousin" moments.
I sure do love those two bosom buddies...they are so cute together. And what's one more boy added to the Cano's, right? Fun times.
