Twas the Night Before Christmas...

Hard to believe its all come and gone. I always get in a post holiday slump. Major letdown for me once New Years is over. But over it is. Thiago had the whole week between Christmas and New Years off from work...which means all we did was play and failed to accomplish much of anything important. I am just now finally getting back to reality. Which means some major cleaning, toy arranging, taking dowm my Christmas and blah, blah, blah. Figured I better get going on all these holiday posts before too much longer. So here is a look at our Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.

Stayed up late one to many nights in a row getting all the presents wrapped. I never mind. I pop in a Christmas movie and go to town. Rather enjoy it.

Not to much happened during the day of Christmas Eve. Thiago had to work. The kids and I just kinda hung around. Did a quick clean job of my downstairs (didn't want Santa seeing my dusty furniture down there), got a workout in, Carson wrote a note for Santa, took our time getting ready and finally dad got home and it was time to head out.

The usual pictures in front of the tree...obviously Thiago's favorite part of the night. He just loves it. Has tons of patience and is such a good sport. Hmmmm...sarcasm.

Got Santa's cookies ready before we left and sprinkled our reindeer food on the lawn. If I was a cooler mom, I would have spent the morning making homemade cookies for Santa...but nope, that did not happen. I gathered what I had leftover from Carson's lunches and a few items that we had received from neighbors.

Gathered what presents we needed for our parties and we were off.

My Grandpa Woodyatt's party is first. Lots and lots of family. Aunts, uncles, cousins and tons of great grandkids. Its pure chaos....and I love every second of it. Lots of good food cause my aunts are all good cooks.

The kids get to open three presents at this party. I have two sets of grandparents that come and both send me money before hand to go buy presents for the kids to open that night. And then they also get a gift from my mom that is always Christmas jammies.

I don't know what I was thinking asking these three to smile for a picture...obviously they were too busy with new toys.

These little boys are always asking for the same thing each year....and this Christmas was no different. Angry Birds Star Wars...they all got them. Multiple sets, we have so many Angry Bird Star Wars going on it is absolutely ridiculous!!

After a few hours we left and headed to the Canos. Another yummy dinner and the boys always get to open their present from their uncle Gus.

In their new Christmas jammies. One of my favorite traditions from when I was little. Then it was time to get these boys home.

After the boys were asleep, we went ahead and played Santa's elves. Had some last minute wrapping and rearranging to do. By this point it was getting pretty late and I was getting a little loopy. Finished up our work, took a bath, set my alarm and went to bed...

Well, my plan was to wake up before the boys did and start getting ready. We needed to be at the Cano's by 9:30 the next morning and I didn't want to be super rushed all morning, so I thought I could wake up and get ready, let the boys sleep a bit, go down and do our Christmas then just hustle to get them ready and we could go. So I set my alarm for six. Or I thought I did. Carson comes running into our room, saying "wake up, wake up, it's Christmas morning". I jumped up, looked at the clock...7:45, well crap. I jumped up and started running around the house making beds and such and told Carson and Lincoln to be gently waking up Drake. Told Thiago to run downstairs which is where Santa had came and turn on the Christmas tree lights and "The Christmas Story" on TBS. Ya know, get everything all cozy. The boys were just going nuts waiting for us to go downstairs, they run out to our upstairs family room which is where we had left the cookies and milk and what do you think they discovered. Santa had not even touched the cookies or the milk. Nothing. Not even a bite. Well crap again. I am a total loser. If you recall Carson's first lost tooth story and now this. I need to get my crap together. We rambled off some lame excuses as to why Santa had not eaten the cookies....all of this was soon forgotten as soon as they got downstairs and discovered...

nothing better than a cozy little room, the quiet glow of the Christmas tree and a floor covered in presents. Lovely sight.

Wish I could slow the next half hour down. I try to tell them to take their time and enjoy it. Ha! They just tear into those suckers. Barely lifting their heads to see what the other ones got. Their smiles, and screams of happiness make the whole crazy season worth it. Nothing like Christmas morning with little ones.

I will dedicate a full post in a couple of weeks to some of their favorite gifts. They got some good stuff and they were so excited and sweet about all of it. They are good boys.

I'll be back in a few days with the rest of our Christmas day photos...
