His party!

Saturday night we had our families over for a little birthday celebration. Carson was beyond excited, he lives for these types of parties. He just loves them. From the cake, to the decorations, to all of his cousins being there....he was just on cloud nine.
Carson chose a lego theme for his party, which actually turned into a lot of fun. I had a good time gathering all the supplies and getting things ready....I even went all out on a cake this year.
Ta-da...wait til you see the inside. I am beyond proud of this cake. I saw the idea on a friends blog and knew it would fit in perfectly with our Lego theme. It didn't seem overly hard and I knew with the help of my talented sister we could handle it. And handle it we did!
Like I said, extremely proud of this cake. In the past I have either bought my cakes or my mother in law has made them. I have never made one on my own. I actually have to give most of the credit to my sister. She has a very steady hand, a lot of patience and is something of a perfectionist. It is thanks to her that the cake turned out so beautiful.
It was a bold party, with lots of fun bright colors. I decided I needed to fit in with all of that so I wore my new coral pants. They made me happy!
Oh my little precious one...look at him. I love my baby.
These two were just dying during dinner. Could not wait to get to those presents. Carson kept flopping around me while I was eating, making this annoying whiny noise. I finally turned to him and said "what, what do you want". He looked at me in all seriousness and said "I just really want to get going with those presents". Haha. Kids will be kids, I laughed at him and said "have at it my boy, go for it".
He got lots of good gifts. He was pretty happy with it all. Lots of lego sets, a slip and slide, some Transformers, an art set, angry birds game, Phineas and Ferb figurines that he was dying for and his favorite was probably the Power Rangers Samurai robot my mom gave him. He had been eyeing that thing for a while and was just dying to receive one. He also kept getting money in the mail from different grandparents that he kept wanting to take to the store and spend. I let him spend half of it and then took the other half and put it in his savings. Kid doesn't need that many toys.
My Lincoln boy enjoying the celebration. He was Carson's little shadow that night. And Cars was so sweet to him. Made sure he was always included. Very sweet.
And cake time....are you ready for this. Highlight of my night. I couldn't wait to see how it turned out.
Make a wish sweet boy!
So freaking cool right. Carson was absolutely in love. Don't you worry that me and my sister stayed up until 4:00 in the morning the night before to finish this thing. It wasn't hard just time consuming. Made it all worth it though by seeing his face. He thought it was so cool.
And it tasted good too.
Pinata.
Carson always has one request on his birthday and that is the pinata. He insists. Kinda had a hard time finding a lego one, but I tracked one down at the last minute. I was praying it would be delivered on time, and it was. Relief.
His gift pile.
Sure do love our seven year old. That about wraps up his birthday celebration. Hopefully we made it a good one this year!
