If you remember from last years post around this time, me and Thiago always go shopping the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I don't do Black Friday, too crazy for me. Although Thiago pulled an all-nighter this year to get us a laptop for crazy cheap. I let him do the dirty work, while me and the littles are sound asleep. So no Friday shopping for me, but we did go out all day Saturday. We usually make a weekend of it and stay over night in Salt Lake. However, this year a certain little baby is hogging my savings account and I couldn't justify the hotel cost. So we just made it the one day.
We dropped off our little Misters at Vovo's house, where they were perfectly happy to stay...
and then we shopped til we dropped. Literally. I was so tired by the end of the day. At one point we were wandering around Target getting a few odds and ends, and I started having some real serious issues. I get Braxton Hicks contractions all the time with this baby, which is a first for me. I never had them with Carson or Lincoln. Well, they are worse when I have been on my feet all day. I finally had to give up my daily walks, cause they just kept getting worse and worse. Well, all that walking caught up with me at Target. I was having like full on contractions. I had to take a little sitting down break and everything. I think I scared poor Thiago, I knew they would go away as soon as I sat down for a minute, however I think he was pretty nervous about it all.
So we didn't stay over night but we still went and ate dinner at "The Roof" on top of the Joseph Smith Memorial building. Tradition, considering that is where we got engaged exactly 8 years ago....
It was delicious and as always, beautiful. I love it up there, especially looking down at the lights on temple square. I love it. After that, we got really crazy and decided to go to a movie. Crazy for us. We just don't do that a whole lot anymore, but we had no kids and it was still pretty early, so we thought why not. We saw "Unstoppable". It was pretty good, mostly just fun to be out together with no little ones to worry about.
Now, onto Tuesday night. Me and the girls.....Jen, Ash and Mom....
and Tammy and Jill all went to the Oakridge Boys concert. Who the heck are they, you are probably asking....well let me show you.
This is them....quite the characters, wouldn't you say. The Oakridge Boys is my all time favorite Christmas album, we grew up listening to them. They are a country group that was formed in like the 70's, they became most famous with their Christmas albums though. I don't know if it is just the memories that goes along with it or what but I absolutely loved it. It was at Abravenal Hall, and we were seriously surrounded by old people. Very old people. Me and Jen had a great time watching them all. The group has all gotten much older, but for the most part they still sounded exactly the same. It was so fun hearing all my old Christmas favorites, and just getting a night out. It was great.
More good times to come, I am sure.

Nobody appreciates Sizzler Buffets and fake pearl earrings quite like you.....priceless jokes you and I.
I didn't know you guys saw unstoppable, I have no idea what that even is but that's not surprising considering I go to a movie if I am lucky once a year. Speaking of are you sure you don't want to join us for Tangled, I would meet you in Brigham....think it over, think it over.
You poor thing, contractions are no fun especially when it is bad enough you have to sit down.
Sounds like it was a fun weekend!
Fun tradition you two have...sorry to hear about contractions. Sounds quite scary to me. Cute pictures of your day!
Old people, old smells, you just wait young one...your turn will come too. I'm still laughing about what you said to your Mom about not being able to smell them. Gotta love those Oakridge Boys.
I so know who the Oakridge Boys are and love them!
I love your tradition about shopping. Bob and I started one this year, before I did the shopping all by myself.
I hope those contractions go away, no baby until January.
Fun! Fun! Fun!! Your day of shopping with your husband sounds like a blast. Minus the braxton hicks of course! I got those SO bad with both pregnancies. Especially when I was on my feet all day at work. I could barely make it through the end of my days and then I'd come home and cry and cry until they would go away. Oh I hated being pregnant!
You all look so cute at the concert too!! What a fun night. You and Jenny seriously look so much alike it took me a minute to tell who was who! Does your sister Ashely blog too? You are all adorable!
I love your Christmas posts. Your family always does fun things and has fun traditions! Although I have NO idea who the Oakridge Boys are - seems like it was a great time!
I love the one holiday shopping trip Josh and I take together without any kids!! AAAHHH so relaxing. Sorry to hear you almost gave birth to your child in Target!! Now that would have pushed you right over the edge with your germ thing if that really happened. Can you imagine. Anyways.... Good to see ya yesterday. See you soon at many more holiday events.
I love that you guys go do that! What a fun day! And a real trooper you are for doing all that walking around, and shopping with that baby coming so soon! Isn't it funny the things we remember from childhood, and although they may seem a bit silly, its those memories that make it all worth it! What a fun night to go out with the girls! Love All Those Girls!
