Temple Square

Whats Christmas time in Utah, without a trip to Temple Square....

-It's freezing....FREEZING!
-You have to park a mile away.
-Takes more time getting your kids all bundled up and ready to go, then the actual trip through the square.
-Half of Utah is there with you.
These things are all givens....you know that going into it.

What was not expected is this....

-An incredibly bossy pants Carson (I think the anticipation of it all is getting to him, this kid has got some serious sass going on)
-Lincoln gulping down 5, yes 5 sippies of juice in just one night....which resulted in him peeing through his diaper.....as I was holding him.
-A 2 year old running through the Joseph Smith Memorial building with no pants on, while dad made a trip back to the car for some jammies.
-Myself with a soaking wet, cold, peed on shirt. Lovely.
-And most importantly, missing my chance for the hot chocolate I have been hearing so much about. A new little cafe at the JSM building, that was closed by the time Lincoln was fully clothed again.

Oh well, alls well that ends well...right? As a mother of young children, you kinda have to just roll with the punches on nights like this. So it didn't go picture perfect, but let me tell you there were little moments packed in there that made it all worth it.

-The many groups of carolers belting out my favorite Christmas tunes.
-Watching Carson's face as he saw the Nativity reenactment....especially the part with Mary and baby Jesus.
-Cuddling my incredibly over tired baby boy, who just wanted his mama.
-The view of the Salt Lake City temple all lit up at Christmastime, it is a view like no other.
-and of course, seeing my little ones all bundled up in their winter attire. I am sorry but is there anything cuter than rosy little cheeks poking out of hats and mittens. Um, no...there is not.

Whats that, you want to see them again.

Yep, temple square tradition is alive and well....we'll be back next year.
