Newborn pictures..

I took Lincoln to get his newborn pictures done yesterday. I also got one of the two of them together for our Christmas card. They all turned out so cute, I will wait and post the one of the two of them together until Christmas is a little closer. I was so worried about the pictures cause Lincoln has started to become a bit fussy. We think he is a little colicky. I mentioned that he spits up alot and at least twice a day he gets little stomachaches after he eats. When that happens he just cries and cries and there is not a whole lot I can do for him. It is so sad, and the spitting up thing drives me crazy. I can't stand messy, smelly kids so I am constantly having him wear bibs and changing his clothes and cleaning him off. It just sicks me out. Anyways, he was very fussy before the pictures so I thought they were not going to go well. However he surprised me, he was just fine. Cute, little guy...we sure do love him!

His pictures turned out so cute! Brooke was a really fussy baby. With her being my first, I really felt like it was something I was doing wrong. I have been around so many babies in my life, that I just kept telling myself that it wasn't me. Turns out, it wasn't. I definetly know that now after having DaKoda. I finally had a pediatrician (Dr. Whiting. The pediatrician that Ashley Davis use to work for.) who listned to me that her spitting up wasn't normal. She spit up all the time. Every feeding. I took all their recomendations. Raise her crib, keep her upright for a half hour after she eats, feed her slowly, change her formula (4 stinkin times!!) tried her on 5-6 different medications, I promise you, we tried it all. All to no avail. She just kept screaming. So the doctor finally sent us to Primary Childrens for testing. She was diagnosed with GERD. Gastro-Esphogal-Reflux-Disease. Brooke had a really hard time her first year because once we finally had the GERD manageable, she started having back to back ear infections for 3 months. So the crying started all over again.
So, my advice to you, is obviously you are a seasoned mother. You know better than I did with Brooke what seems like 'normal'. If it doesn't seems right to you, speak up to your pediatrician. Lincoln shouldn't and doesn't have to live in pain. It will get better, I promise.
Two more things, (sorry I feel complelled to helping. I wish someone could have helped me when I was in that situation.) one, the medication that finally helped Brooke was actually advice from a distant relative that had the same issue. We gave her Pepcid Complete. Which is actually an adult medication. We broke the tablet in half, mixed it with water and then gave it to her. The doctor said, well, if it's working, keep doing it.
2, DaKoda used to get belly aches, but never had reflux. We used a corn pack (some people have rice packs) that you heat in the microwave and use for sore muscles. For adults, you heat it for 2 minutes, we heated it about 45 seconds for DaKoda. Then laid it across her tummy when she was sleeping.
Oh, and if you'd like, you can always give me a call if you have any questions about the GERD, or anything in general. Jenny I think still has my phone number, but if not, you can email me and I will send you my number. By the way... (like this couldn't make the book for longest comment ever!) we changed our blog to private and I didn't get your email. So send me an email anyway. mickeyssparkplug@yahoo.com
Sorry about all the unsolicited advice, I've just been there. The screaming sucks.
