Well, here you go. Here is a look at how I potty train...I wait til' they're three, and I give them three days. They must be trained in three days, and once I start, I don't give up. I don't believe in pull-ups. Its all or nothing, baby. So did the Lincoln boy deliver...see for yourself.
We armed ourselves with the essentials...beginning with a potty training sticker chart.
some small bribes,
and some not so small bribes.
I did it the same way with Carson. Created a little happy "potty space", complete with a tiny soccer ball seat. Everytime he would at least sit on the potty and try he got to choose a piece of candy. Everytime he had success, he got to choose one of the prizes up on the shelf.
We stocked up on undies with pictures of his "friends". Who knew choosing a pair of underwear could be such a life-altering decision each day. He is very particular in his choosing and really takes his time.
lookin' good little man..
and here we go.
I loaded him up with a whole bunch of this..
and we waited.
Like I mentioned previously, the first half of the day was rough. Real rough. This kid pees a lot . And I was cleaning it up...ALOT!
The real low point of the day was when we went to pick up Carson, he had just barely peed all over my kitchen floor so I thought we were safe to head out and pick Cars up. Thiago wasn't around that day so I had no choice but to take them with. You have to get out of your car and meet your Kindergartner at the front doors (which I am glad for), but sometimes it is a pain to get the babies all bundled and out of the car and haul them across the busy parking lot. Anyways, it was freezing that day and Lincoln decided he had to go, he went and hid himself behind a pole and peed his pants. My first indication should have been him behind the pole, usually he does not remain unseen like that. He is usually down by the busses trying to make friends with the drivers, well either that or get himself ran over. One of the two. Anyways, he peed, he was soaking wet and cold, and we were both kinda ornery.
Oh well. Its to be expected.
At this point in the day I decided he was no longer going to wear clothes. I was doing wash like a crazy person, and I think they made him feel to "safe". He needed to be more aware of what was going on. So he ran around in his undies.
I was just praying one of my neighbors didn't stop by unannounced. That would have been weird. A skinny 3 year old making jump shots in my living room in nothing but his undies. Hmmmm..
Finally some progress. By the end of that day, he started earning himself some prizes. Including this pirate stuff. Ha,ha...he's funny.
Woke up the second day and had an accident right off...but thats it. We have not had an accident since that second day. He has done soooo freaking good. He seriously shocked me. Carson did great, 3 days is what it took him. But Lincoln, holy smokes basically 1 day and the kid had it. Ohh, it is a lovely feeling. And I gotta tell ya, it sure was nice just buying diapers for one this past Monday at the grocery store. Love it.
He has even got his nights down. Goes to bed with undies and wakes up dry. Goes potty right when he wakes up.
Good job Lincoln boy! Great job! You little potty champ!

way to go Lincoln!!
That is fantastic.
Claire is still in diapers at night.
Maybe I should do your method.
Love all your treats you bought him. So fun, and such a good mama you are Teri!!
I don't know what picture made me laugh more the one of him in his undies with his hands on his hips or the pirate pose. Oh that kid, he is something else!
Love the three day rule works like a charm. I mean I no expert but I have to think where all three of us have done it that way and it works beautifully there must be a reason for it.
Good job Lincoln and good job mommy!
Good Job Lincoln Boy!!!
That's amazing! Do you follow the book 3 day potty taining? He sure does look cute running around in those undies! Good job Lincoln!
Wow! Are you sure you have to wait until they're 3? How about 1? I'm definitely giving the 3 day thing a try when we're (both) ready. :)
